Starting from a childhood photograph of a Kapla construction, the project rebuilds the structure in Rhino and explores whether an imagined hotel in a Dutch forest can be brought into an architectural image.

A childhood photograph of a Kapla construction, found again the week the designer of Kapla passed away — the starting point for asking what I was actually building, and what it would take to build it now.
As a kid, it wasn't a tower — it was a hotel in a Dutch forest, its central opening wide enough for a car to drive straight through as the entrance. That fantasy, not the tower itself, is the real subject of this project.
Modeled in Rhinoceros 8 at the real Kapla dimension — 117 × 23.4 × 7.8 mm — following the proportions visible in the photograph.
Rendered into its imagined setting — a Dutch forest, the central opening finally working as the porte-cochère it was always meant to be.
