Starting from a childhood photograph of a Kapla construction, the project rebuilds the structure in Rhino and explores whether an imagined hotel in a Dutch forest can be brought to life.

A childhood photograph of a Kapla construction became the starting point for this project. As a kid, it wasn't a tower, it was a hotel in a Dutch forest, its central opening wide enough for a car to drive straight through as the entrance. That fantasy, not the tower itself, is the real subject of this project. Modeled in Rhinoceros 8 at the real Kapla dimension (117 × 23.4 × 7.8 mm) and rendered into its imagined forest setting, the central opening finally works as the porte-cochère it was always meant to be.
