During my five-month internship at De Zwarte Hond, I worked across several projects, including modelling this housing development in ArchiCAD and rendering it in Enscape. It gave me a real feel for working at an architecture office, and made me genuinely enthusiastic about the profession.

During my internship at De Zwarte Hond, I researched how ArchiCad's built-in LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) tool can help reduce CO2 emissions in future projects. Using Environmental Product Declarations to compare a conventional wall to a biobased alternative, the tool showed a clear reduction in environmental impact, mainly through timber framing and more sustainable insulation. The tool's material database is still too limited for use on live projects, but the research points toward using it as an early-stage CO2 budget meter during design, helping architects work toward Paris Proof building standards.
